The Red One MX

The original groundbreaking debut camera from RED Digital Cinema has seen it's first serious upgrade with a new latest generation sensor from RED with Mysterium X! In true renegade RED fashion, this new MX sensor sets a new standard for other Digital Cinema camera manufacturers to challenge.

A proven 13.5 stops of Dynamic Range using the ARRI DR testing mechanism (the same test rating the new ARRI ALEXA at 13.5 stops) and an incredible noise floor sits the sensor at it's general working 'native' rating of ISO800. A changing metadata ISO combining a noise floor so greatly increased now allows R3D's to be pushed to ISO2000 with confidence and as high as ISO3200 for very usable ultra high sensitivity. One of the beauties of this new, extremely flexible ISO is how it can be manipulated on scene dependancy needs and be able to be push down to ISO160 (or lower) or to ISO2000 with very clean, sharp images and with a very filmic grain. Highlight control has also been addressed in the new sensor, highlight detail and rolloff has been significantly improved.

As the new MX sensor is a 'part' upgrade from the new, soon to be released EPIC system from RED...it also offers 4.5K resolution acquisition! When comparing this amount of detail that is in each frame to HD1080p cameras the difference is staggering. There is no comparable camera digital cinema camera that produces such amounts of detail and resolution combined with 12bit color and simple, easy post workflow with such flexibility from either available or from touted soon to be released digital cameras...

that is until the release of the 5K epic from RED!
