The next flying leap ahead in digital cinematography has well and truly arrived!
The next generation of camera from RED...EPIC...has raised the bar for every other camera maker to aim for. More dynamic range than any other digital cinema camera with up to 19 stops of DR with HDRX, more resolution and more detail than any other available camera, far higher frame rates..300fps, smaller and lighter than any competing camera system, less low light noise and more shadow detail, more highlight DR, less compression, and all with more and superior post flexibility for any look you want with the power of RAW rather than with ProRes or other baked in codecs.
Gone are the days of new workflows...a simple “direct to edit” post workflow easily handled by low, mid and high end editing software platforms from a laptop in the field to a full post pipline...itʼs that easy!
REDʼS current 5K MX sensor (imagery greatly improved again inside EPIC) offers far superior resolution, detail and imagery than small 3K bayer sensors or CCDʼs that donʼt even resolve true 1080p and use ʻsoftening filtersʼ to mask there detail and aliasing inefficiencies. In fact, the MX sensor in EPIC offers five times more detail than any 1080p or 2K camera on the market and with less artefacts,less aliasing and faster reset times for rolling shutter than itʼs competitors. The smaller pixels in REDʼs sensors combined with their sensor technology give multiple superior benefits over larger pixels giving you not only far more detail in images, but more depth and color recognition and with better low light sensitivity allowing you further room to reach in the shadows, no in-camera softening to make up for a shortfall in resolution...and all with a beautiful, natural and organic feel to your images. Quite simply, the imagery is so clean it's almost too clean!
But itʼs not all about resolution. EPIC with built in HDRX adds up to another optional one to SIX stops of DR, 100% in the highlights, giving you firstly the cleanest sensor on the market in low light and now with more highlight protection than any other camera system available. Donʼt want all that DR later, just turn it off in post with the push of a button...simple!
All this in a camera not much bigger than a DSLR shooting all onto on-board SSD cards but with more power, more performance, more features, superior images with more DR and better resolution than any other available Digital Cinema camera by any other manufacturer ever made.
